Come join us 6:00-7:30 pm @ Concord Coffee in Lakeland

Need a writing prompt? Write a short story, poem, or essay for the 2018 Collection prompt: Where Does Your Muse Live?

The FWA Collection: An Anthology Collection Contest Free to All FWA Members

Where Does Your Muse Live is all about the residency your Muse takes up in order to stimulate your writing. Is s/he residing in your mind? Does that Muse move around, show up in different places, different people, different characters? Tell us where and how your Muse shows up most often to spark your writing. Fiction, nonfiction, prose, and poetry are all acceptable.

Every entrant is allowed two submissions. Two submissions by a single author may consist of two stories, one story and one poem or two poems. This is a blind judging contest. Only contest administrators know the identity of the author until the winners are announced.

Readers love interesting, inspiring, humorous, poignant, silly, sad, or amazing stories. All
entrants will receive an entry acknowledgment by email.

Seven judges will score each submission independently, through a reading website. The
highest scoring sixty entries from all electronic submissions received between February 1st, 2017, and 11:59 PM, April 30th, 2018 (Eastern Standard Time) will be published. Only one entry per author is permitted in the sixty highest scoring group for publication.

Next Meeting 1/17…New Time/New Place

Hello Lakeland Writers!

With a new year comes new things! Our beloved bank building will be closing and we have found a new location.

Concord Coffee
1037 Florida Ave S, #135, Lakeland, Florida 33803

Wednesday, January 17 @ 6:00-7:30pm

Concord Coffee is in the Dixieland Mall on South Florida between Hunter and Patterson in Lakeland. There is plenty of parking in the back. They have a beautiful facility with a small community room inside. They roast their own coffee in a space next door…and it’s delicious. They also serve light bites.

I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting! We will review our writing goals for the year as well as hold a critique session.

Need a writing prompt? A crazy weather event has brought a high wind. Suddenly, you are restored to your seventeen-year-old self and placed in front of your nemesis. The only difference is you have the wisdom of today. What happens next?
