Vic DiGenti’s Famous Workshop!

Novel in a Day Workshop

Saturday, April 29, 2017

Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs

 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Writers today face an uphill climb. The competition is fierce, the learning curve steep. There’s no magic wand, but by learning the basic techniques for crafting a novel, the beginning writer can quickly flatten the learning curve.

For both beginning writers and more advanced pros looking for new insights, this workshop provides writers with the tools needed to craft their own novel—a novel that will grab a reader’s attention and keep them turning pages.

Here are some of the topics covered:

  • Elements of plot and structure
  • Creating characters that sizzle
  • Secrets of good dialogue
  • Crafting strong beginnings, middles and ends
  • Writing in scene
  • Tips for self-editing

Don’t put your writing dreams on hold. Register now!  http://shop.floridawritersfoundation.org

Vic DiGenti (aka Parker Francis) is the instructor for this up-beat and fast-paced interactive workshop. Vic is the author of the Quint Mitchell Mystery series, including the 2008 RPLA Book of the the Year, Matanzas Bay. Vic is FWA Executive Vice President, and the 2017 Faculty Chair for the Florida Writers Conference.    “Vic DiGenti is a great speaker and covered all the material you could want. Group work and matching handout were very helpful.” – Shannon B. “Vic’s workshop is fantastic! He gives information to help writers break down novel writing into chunks. I loved his use of humor and examples. It was a great day full of valuable information.” – Kitty W.

Reminder! February 15 Meeting

Our February meeting–February 15–will be an online class about WRITING FANTASTIC QUERY LETTERS held by Molli Nickell. Molli is a 10-year member of the FWA, and a 30-year veteran of the publishing business as a Time-Life editor, acquisitions editor, and publisher. This meeting will be from the comfort of your own living room at 6:30 pm.

This class is open to all Lakeland Writers but the first 4 FWA members to submit their query letters to me at alison.nissen@aol.com will be able to have their letters critiqued live with Molli during the class. Not an FWA member? Click here to join.

Read the attached documents for instructions and more information.

Query Letter Template (How to format your query letter)

Query Letter Workshop Information (Submission instructions and how to join the meeting)

Here’s a little bit about Molli:

In 2001, she opened her virtual office to help writers move through the learning curve from completed manuscript to agent acquisition. Currently, she directs Agent/Query Submission Central, a membership teaching site where writers learn to craft effective query letters, synopses, manuscript first pages, and structure their agent quest protocols.

Then they’re ready to step out into the publishing world, armed with submission packages that prove they’re the real deal: skilled writers with saleable manuscripts. Meet her via the video on my home page at www.getpublishednow.biz.

Contact alison.nissen@aol.com for any additional information.

Third, I’m attaching a link to the Lakeland Public Library’s upcoming events which includes other writer’s groups, publishing panels, and open mic times at the end of this email.
